Shortly after the release of his 2017 debut album, There’s a System of Control, Elk Minister was contacted by the spirit of his dead Great Aunt Coleslaw. With the help of his companion and imagery friend Gerald, Elk Minister was able to piece together many mysteries from the life of his Great Aunt Coleslaw. Coleslaw was a brilliant musician in her own right who lived to be well over 700 years old, but until now very little has been written and reported on her many lifetimes. She now resides in a different plane of existence in the year 3144 A.D. With her help and guidance, Elk Minister has promised two deliver 26 albums, and declared 2018 The Year of The Elk. The first album of 2018 is known as Capricorn.
The Book of Slaw: Songs From My Great Aunt Coleslaw is a year long project dedicated to the life of Elk Minister’s Great Aunt Coleslaw. Coleslaw’s lyrics and music were once described blurring the lines of reality and fantasy. While it is her who created all of the music, lyrics, artwork, and spoken word poems on the 26 scheduled studio albums of 2018, it is Elk Minister who is the performer on all of the albums.
Elk Minister is proud to share the life and work of his Great Aunt Coleslaw. It was her who inspired him to play music and he feels it as an honor and blessing that he is finally able to share her art with the world. Whenever Elk Minister was feeling sad as a little boy, the music of his Great Aunt Coleslaw always cheered him up.
Now we will all rejoice with Great Aunt Coleslaw.
